About Our Free Barcode Generator
This free online barcode generator creates print-ready barcodes for retail, books, shipping, inventory, and asset tracking. Pick a symbology — UPC-A, EAN-13, EAN-8, ISBN, Code 128, Code 39, ITF-14, Codabar and more — enter your value, and download the result as a PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, or EPS file. SVG and EPS are vector formats, so they stay crisp at any size, which is ideal for professional printing. There is no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many barcodes you can create.
Need to read the data behind a barcode instead of create one? Use our barcode lookup to identify a product from its UPC, EAN, or ISBN, or the Barcode Lookup API to pull product data programmatically.
Barcode Generator FAQ
Is this barcode generator really free?
Yes. You can generate and download as many barcodes as you like at no cost, with no account required and no watermark on the output.
Which barcode types can I create?
15 symbologies, including UPC-A, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-E, ISBN (with an optional EAN-5 price add-on), Code 128, Code 39, ITF-14, Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5, EAN-2, EAN-5, POSTNET, and PLANET. Choose retail codes (UPC/EAN) for products, ISBN for books, ITF-14 for shipping cartons, and Code 128 or Code 39 for general-purpose labels.
What's the difference between UPC and EAN?
UPC-A is the 12-digit standard used mainly in the United States and Canada, while EAN-13 is the 13-digit international standard used worldwide. An EAN-13 that starts with a 0 is effectively a UPC-A. For more detail, see our EAN lookup and UPC lookup pages. To verify a number before you print it, use the check digit calculator.
Do I need to include the check digit?
You can enter the full code including its check digit (for example a complete 12-digit UPC or 14-digit ITF-14) and we'll validate it, or omit the final digit and we'll calculate the correct check digit for you automatically.
Which file formats can I download?
PNG and JPEG for raster images, plus SVG, PDF, and EPS for vector output. Use SVG or EPS when you need a barcode that scales without losing quality for professional print jobs.
Can I use the barcodes I generate on products I sell?
Yes — the images are yours to use. This tool renders the barcode image for a number you already have; it doesn't assign UPC numbers. If you need UPC codes for your products, we recommend UPCs.com, which sells them for $10 per code as a one-time purchase. If you sell on Amazon or Walmart, check their product ID rules first: both say they verify UPCs against GS1's database.
How do I create an ISBN barcode with a price?
Choose the ISBN type, enter your 13-digit ISBN, and add a price in the price field. We'll render the ISBN (EAN-13) alongside the EAN-5 price add-on used on the back of books.
