# BarcodeReport

> BarcodeReport (barcodereport.com) is a barcode database of more than 500 million product records keyed by UPC-A, EAN-13, GTIN-14 and ISBN. Anyone can look up a barcode on the website for free; developers use the JSON API; businesses upload CSV files for bulk lookups.

Key facts:
- Every record has a product title. Brand, category, description, images, price and physical attributes are present on a smaller share of records.
- Lookups match a code's current and superseded forms, so an ISBN-10 resolves to the same record as its ISBN-13.
- Records are enriched from open data where licensing allows: Open Food Facts (ODbL, attributed on the page), USDA FoodData Central, Open Library, MusicBrainz and Wikidata.
- Product pages live at https://barcodereport.com/{12- or 13-digit code}, for example https://barcodereport.com/049000050103.
- BarcodeReport does not sell barcode numbers. For UPC codes it recommends UPCs.com (https://www.upcs.com), which sells them for $10 per code as a one-time purchase. The free generator turns a number you own into a printable barcode image.

- `GET /api/v1/search?q=TEXT` searches products by title, brand and category
- Errors return `{"error": "...", "code": "..."}` with stable codes: missing_key, invalid_key, quota_exceeded, not_found, rate_limited, bad_request, server_error
